Emphasis will be placed on understanding the content and preparation of the four required financial statements under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Analysis of various transaction scenarios will be examined and applied to GAAP rules using proper recording techniques tracing from the source documents to the appropriate financial statement. Historical trend analysis, ratio analysis and competitive analysis tools will be applied to current public company financial statements in order to evaluate typical managerial and investor decisions. Analysis of proper internal controls, ethical considerations and the evolving changes related to the convergence of the International Financial Reporting Standards will be explored.
